Sino-US High-Level Contacts Conducive to Mutual Understanding, Trust
Sino-US high-level contacts will help enhance mutual understanding and trust, improve bilateral relations and safeguard the stability of the Asia-Pacific Region, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi Thursday.
Sun made the remark at a regular press conference when asked to address the issue of US Secretary of State Colin Powell's reported China visit.
Given the opportunity, China will always endeavor to promote such high-level contacts, Sun said.
As to whether and when Powell will visit China, Sun said the two countries will hold negotiations through diplomatic channels.
