Suspended Ethiopian Private Paper Resumes PublicationEthiopia's major private English newspaper The Monitor resumed publication Tuesday, ending a suspension imposed by the security authorities since last week.Fitsum Asgedom, the publisher and owner of the daily, was arrested last week for alleged involvement in a high-profile corruption case, before the paper's suspension. Fitsum was sent in on charge of illegally dealing with the Ethiopian Privatization Agency to secure the purchase of Taitu Hotel, Gulele Soap Factory and Harer Printing Press. The Ethiopian government is current in a anti-corruption campaign, which has sent into jail many dignities by far. The Monitor, established in 1993, was published three times a week before it became a daily a few months before.
