Jiang Congratulates Putin on Russia's National Day

Chinese President Jiang Zemin sent Tuesday a message to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to congratulate him on Russia's National Day which falls on Tuesday.

In the new century, Jiang said in the message, the strategic partnership between China and Russia has been developing in an in- depth way, which is not only in the interests of the two countries and the two peoples, but will also benefit the process of multipolarity of the world and promote the establishment of a new, just international political and economic order.

Jiang expressed his hope to see President Putin soon in the coming "Shanghai Five" summit, which is scheduled for June 14-15 in Shanghai, China.

In the message, Jiang said that in his mid-July state visit to Russia, he will sign with Putin a good-neighborly and goodwill cooperation accord between the two countries. The new accord will be a new milestone in the history of Sino-Russian relationsh, Jiang said.
