China to Experiment With 'Commercial Trade Guild'

China's central cities are encouraged to carry out experiment with the establishment of "commercial trade guild", said He Jihai, head of the China General Chamber of Commerce, at a conference in Beijing on June 11.

China General Chamber of Commerce is a new nationwide intermediary organization oriented toward commercial enterprises, it was established after the dissolution of the original Ministry of Internal Trade.

He pointed out that the China General Chamber of Commerce should act as a trade guild of the commercial business and serve the common interests of the members of enterprises and institutions in the same trade.

He also expressed the hope that qualified localities, especially key cities, should set up the chamber of commerce as quickly as possible; local departments in charge of commerce should pay attention to and support the establishment and development of chambers of commerce during structural reform. Key cities where conditions permit, should learn from the experiences of securities and futures associations, carry out the experiment with the "commercial trade guild", explore experiences for the construction and reform of the country's organizational system of chamber of commerce, thereby promoting the rejuvenation and prosperity of the commodity circulation trade.
