Liaoning: IT Industry Speeds up Industrialization ProcessAs a big industrial base, Liaoning Province has shown great interest in IT industry and is now working hard to build "Liaoning Online" to accelerate its industrialization process.The Liaoning government has lately decided to spend five years in building "Liaoning Online", then IT would turn out a pillar industry of the province, with an estimated output value topping one eighth of the province's total by year 2005. Based on IT products manufacture, the provincial government has planned to press ahead with IT construction of the whole province by focusing on software manufacture to seek for headway made in optical communication products, computer and peripherals and digital audio products, color TV in particular. Currently Liaoning's IT product volume ranked the 10th in China, taking up one 30th of the nation's total. Liaoning has determined to rewrite the two indicators through five years' efforts. Taking opening up as a "shortcut" to develop IT industry, Liaoning has worked out plans to make effective use of foreign investment, encourage listing of IT enterprises to directly raise funds on both domestic and overseas markets. It also encourages IT enterprises to cooperate with foreign counterparts to set up labs and new companies. Now Liaoning province is actively organizing business delegations to Japan, South Korea and Ireland, as well as holding international software fair and setting up software agencies in foreign countries.
