77th WMA Anniversary MarkedThe WMA Alumni Union and its Taiwanese counterpart "Taiwan Overseas WMA Cadets Union" held jointly a commemoration on June 9 morning in Beijing in marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the Whampoa Military Academy.97-year-old Li Mo'an, one known among the first batch of WMA cadets and chairman of the WMA Alumni Union, sent his greeting message to the commemoration. He said that despite his absence for health reason, he'd like to express his wishes and congratulations, hope all WMA alumni on both sides of the Taiwan Straits follow the teaching of Dr. Sun Yat-san to devote the rest of their life to the reunification and revitalization of the motherland. Li Yunchang, vice-chairman of the Union, said at the commemoration that some leaders of the new local government of Taiwan forget their origins, even deny their nationalities of Chinese, and have deteriorated the relationship across the Taiwan Straits by dodging and confusing the "One China Policy". In this case, he said, all WMA alumni should dedicate themselves to the new historical mission of fighting against Taiwan's "independence" and promote the reunification of China. He showed that it has been the common view of WMA alumni from both sides of the Taiwan Straits and of most parties, groups and civilians of Taiwan that the mainland and Taiwan both belong to one China. He wished that all WMA alumni in the world would strengthen national solidarity and cooperation to strive for the reunification of China. Huang Xingqiang with "Taiwan Overseas WMA Cadets Union" noted that as people living on both sides of the Taiwan Straits are all Chinese, whoever should want to split our territory will the sinner of the country. Presently, the Taiwanese compatriots have the strongest feeling against Taiwan's independence because they know it's inadvisable and surely to bring a disastrous result. The 21st century will be an era of the Chinese people, in the opinion of Huang, only under the precondition of China's unification. He urged the leaders of Taiwan authority to change their concept and seek common ground under one-China principle in the world. It is reported the Taiwan Overseas WMA Cadets Union will pay visit to the Mausoleum of Dr Sun Yat-sen in Nanjing and the former site of the Whampoa Military Academy in Guangzhou.
