CPPCC Vice-Chairman Meets HK Medical Delegation

Wang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met Monday with a delegation from the Hong Kong traditional Chinese medicine circle led by Tse Chi-wai, president of Hong Kong Baptist University.

Wang, also president of the China Overseas Friendship Association, spoke highly of the Hong Kong traditional Chinese medicine circle for its long-term efforts to support and promote Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.

Traditional Chinese medicine is an important part of China's traditional culture, Wang said, adding that the world is paying greater attention to it.

Through the visit, the delegation members will know more about the development of traditional Chinese medicine in inland areas and promote exchange and cooperation of the medical circles between Hong Kong and the mainland areas, he said.

There are more than 40 organizations in Hong Kong engaged in the fields of traditional Chinese medicine including clinics, herb making and sales and medical research.
