World "Roof" Railway Station Projected

China is going to build world's highest railway station in Nagqu County, Tibet, at al altitude of 4,500 meters high above sea level in the region.

As planned, the new station in Nagqu will be built near the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, as the highest on the "Roof of the World". For a dearth of air, being projected at a high altitude, every possible difficulty will be met in construction.

Although herdsmen in the county never see a real train, they know the station will soon be constructed to convenience them on a Lhasa tour and many inland areas in China. Economic growth will be assured. Animal husbandry, tourism and mineral resources in the area will be turned into economic advantages to boost the local economy as a whole after completion of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.
