Red Cross Repatriates Over 1,000 Ethiopians From Eritrea
A total of 1,019 Ethiopians have left Eritrea for home under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the ICRC said Sunday in Addis Ababa.
The operation took place between the Eritrean town of Adi Quala and the Ethiopian town of Rama via the Mereb River, according to the ICRC.
Ahead of the repatriation, ICRC delegates in Eritrea had private interviews with the Ethiopian nationals to check their wish to return to their motherland.
The ICRC has repatriated more than 18,200 Ethiopians from Eritrea since last December, and it will continue to assist future repatriations of all remaining prisoners of war as well as other persons affected by the war between the two countries.
