Chinese State Councilor Meets ROK Trade Official

Economic cooperation between China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) sees great potential, and the two sides should work together to solve trade deficits and other problems that come up in bilateral trade, said State Councilor Wu Yi Saturday in Yantai.

Sino-ROK trade and economic cooperation have maintained comprehensive and rapid growth, thanks to the efforts from their heads of states, governments, non-governmental organizations as well as the business circle, Wu told Chang Che-Shik, ROK's Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy, who is here to attend the Second APEC Investment Mart.

While ROK is China's fourth largest trade partner, China has become ROK's third largest. The two countries have enhanced cooperation in many other sectors, too.

Chang Che-Shik said President Kim Dae-Jung attaches great importance to strengthening ties with China and has a profound enthusiasm for this neighboring country. Seoul hosted the first APEC Investment Mart in 1999, and he wishes this year's APEC mart a success in Yantai.
