Mexican President Concludes China Tour
Mexican President Vicente Fox left Shanghai for home Saturday afternoon, following his 4-day state visit to China.
In Shanghai, Fox met with Shanghai Mayor Xu Kuangdi and visited the Worldbest Kama Machinery Co., Ltd., a leading tractor manufacturer located in Pudong New District.
Fox said that Shanghai is one of driving forces in China's economic growth and Shanghai achieved amazing progress in its Pudong District, adding that he expects Mexico and Shanghai to enhance cooperation in city administration, environmental protection and education.
In Beijing, Fox held talks with President Jiang Zemin, who played host to him, and met with Standing Committee Chairman of the National People's Congress Li Peng and Premier Zhu Rongji.
This was Fox's first China visit after he became president last year. Besides Beijing and Shanghai, he also visited Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
