Computer Giant Cooperates with US Software Provider

Digital China, the country's largest computer manufacturer and distributor, Friday signed a cooperation deal with BEA, a leading software developer from the United States.

According to the contract, Digital China will serve as the main distributor in China of BEA, whose main software products are in the e-commerce field.

The two sides aim to introduce state-of-the-art software technology, e-commerce solutions and related services to promote e- commerce development in China, said Xie Yun, vice president and chief technical officer of Digital China.

"We're targeting the e-commerce industry in China and will constantly strive for better products and services," he said.

Shen Huizhong, general manager of BEA China, said Digital China possesses a nationwide distribution network, and is highly competitive in the e-commerce industry with integrated technology resources.

The cooperation between the two sides will greatly benefit Chinese enterprises, which are relying more on services via the Internet, Shen said.

Digital China was a new company established after the reshuffle of the Legend Group, the largest personal computer manufacturer, in April, 2000

The restructuring gave birth to two new companies, one focusing on PC and information products, and the other, Digital China focusing on Internet-based services and products for e-commerce.

Since its establishment, Digital China has developed a series of e-commerce solutions such as consumer relations management, Internet applications, on-line logistics and other services.
