Chinese Vice-Premier Promotes Chain Business

Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing has said that China should actively develop chain businesses as an effective way to prevent shoddy goods from entering the market.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remark during his June 5-7 study tour of China's leading industrial and commercial city.

He said all localities in the country should sum up their experience from the current campaign to make the market order more regular.

Measures should be taken to explore new methods to effectively standardize the market economy while cracking down on illegal activities that disturb the market order, he said.

"We should adopt advanced business modes and foster chain businesses to help rectify the market order," Li added.

Li also studied the current reform of education in Shanghai.
