Power Transmission Project Signed in YunnanThe Hong Kong-based China Light & Power Co. Ltd. and related enterprises in southwest China's Yunnan Province signed an agreement Wednesday to jointly build an electric power plant.The Diandong Power Plant is designed to have a first-phase capacity of 1.2 million kw and it will cost an investment of US$570 million. Of the money, US$460 million is from the China Light & Power Co. Ltd. and the rest from Yunnan Power Group and Yunnan Development and Investment Company. The power plant will play an important role in providing power to the southern part of China, where there is a power shortage. Yunnan is expected to send 1.6 million kwh of electricity a year to Guangdong Province in south China from 2003. |
