Transnational Construction Company Supports Beijing's Olympic Bid

Philipp Holzmann, a transnational company which has involved in building sports facilities for previous Games in both Munich and Atlanta, has lent its hand to Beijing's bid for the 2008 Olympiad.

Along with its Beijing-based regular partner CSCEC Construction Co.ltd, Holzmann, which has operated in China for 20 years, made donations Thursday to the Beijing bid committee to show their support.

Joachim Prigol, general manager of Holzmann's Chinese branch, said that the 15-year operation in Beijing convinced the company that Beijing is the right place for the 2008 Games.

"We have seen a remarkable change in the city, in the people, and in the Chinese lifestyle,"said Prigol. "The Chinese government and the Beijing bid committee have made it clear to the world that the conditions are right for the Games to come here, "

"These conditions may not have been so apparent to the world and to the IOC during Beijing's last campaign for the 2000 Games. However, a lot has happened in China and in particular in this city since then," he added.

Holzmann, established about 150 years ago, is one of the largest construction companies in the world with an annual turn- over exceeding 7 billion U.S. dollars.
