Second Seed Zhou Mi Reaches Quarterfinals in Women's Singles

Second seed Zhou Mi of China advanced to the quarterfinals of the world badminton championships as she crushed Ling Wan Ting of Hong Kong, China in the women's singles Thursday in Seville.

Zhou, 21, ranked second in the world, brushed aside the 13th seed Ling 11-4, 11-1 in 23 minutes.

The All-England losing finalist will vie for a semifinal berth with Denmark's 15th seed Mette Sorensen, who disposed of Julia Mann of England 11-4, 11-3 in the day's another match.
