Boeing Detects Wire Sabotage on Several Boeing 737sUS aerospace giant Boeing Company is launching an investigation at its plant in Renton, Washington, where sabotage of wiring was detected on at least seven 737 jets under construction, the company said Thursday. In a statement issued from Seattle, Boeing said its inspectors discovered suspicious wire damage on the aircraft during functional testing over the past two weeks and the damages have all been repaired. An internal investigation is under way to determine probable cause, and if possible, the responsible party or parties. If it is determined that these incidents of wire damage were caused intentionally, Boeing will take swift, immediate action, the company said. Rigorous and redundant testing is conducted on all airplane wiring through the production process to assure wiring integrity and performance. No airplane is delivered until it has met the rigorous standards of Boeing, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the airline customer, the company said in an attempt to ally the fears of its customers. The FAA recently referred the case to the FBI, which has started investigation in cooperation with Boeing.
