Chi Cheng Calls on "Legislative Yuan" to Support Beijing's Olympics Bid

Chi Cheng, Taiwan's famous track and field star, called on Taiwan's "Legislative Yuan" on June 6 to support Beijing's 2008 Olympics bid. Her advocacy received active and enthusiastic responses from the "legislators" the same day, according to the news from Taipei.

Initiated by Chi the thematic activity of "Support Beijing's Bid for 2008 Olympics, Glory of the Chinese nation, Long Distance Run Across the Straits" will begin on June 16. June 5 was a meeting day of "Legislative Yuan". On that day, Chi carried a signing board to the "Legislative Yuan" seeking for support from the "Yuan", and her request got immediate responses with many legislators signed their names on the board.

According to Chi, president and vice president of the "Legislative Yuan", leading members in New Party, Kuomintang and Democratic Progressive Party also singed their names on the board in support for Beijing's bid. Within 2 hours, the board was covered with legislators' names.

Chi said that the run will begin on June 16, and by then, she will organize another signing activity and send the board to Beijing, expressing the great zeal on the part of the Taiwan people in support of the event.
