China, Indonesia Agreed to Develop Traffic Cooperation

Indonesian Communications Minister Agum Gumelar and Chinese Communications Minister Huang Zhendong June 5 signed an agreement in Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, for developing all-round bilateral cooperation in marine and land traffic between Indonesia and China.

Spokesman of the Indonesian Ministry of Communications said that the two countries will develop cooperation in many aspects including land traffic, marine transportation, human resources training and rescue, under the deal.

According to the spokesman, China is asked to supply 1,550 buses and corresponding repairing and supporting equipment to two Indonesian state-owned enterprises, and 12,000 containers, to replace those aged in Indonesia, in addition to building 15 ships for Indonesia.

In railway transportation, China is wished to provide Indonesia with 500km rails.

An Indonesian state-owned company will also purchase some 10,000-12,000 new containers from China and both China and Indonesia will respectively appoint an official to take charge of the affairs said.
