Phoenix TV Plans to Set up ICP Center in Shenzhen

Chinese satellite television network Phoenix TV plans to target its development at ICP (Internet Content Provider). Liu Chang-le, CEO of Phoenix, said that the center would focus on program making and other Chinese channels launching, after established, Phoenix can reduce its cost by 40 percent.

According to Ming Pao, Liu said that the Phoenix side would not invest a lot (less than 100 million yuan) in the center due to adoption of the form of joint venture. The center covers a floor space of around 60,000-80,000 square meters, and its layout is to be undertaken by Hong Kong designers. Phoenix hopes that in the future 60 percent of its programs will be made by Phoenix staff.

Construction of the center is set to be completed in 2003-2004. Liu said that the center would help Phoenix cut 40 to 45 percent of cost.
