Shanghai to Set Up E-Port

The Shanghai Long-Distance Telecommunications Corp. signed a contract Wednesday with the Century Internet Data Center Corp. Ltd for jointly developing an advanced E-port here.

As one of China's three authorized international telecommunications operators, Shanghai Telecom has its IT networks hooked to the global information expressways and domestic wideband networks.

The concept of E-port will be a platform construction for an Internet Data Center and a Corporate Data Center. The platform will provide solid technique backups for international IT and web service providers who have business in Shanghai.

The data center, covering 10,000 square m, will be based in Shanghai's Waigaoqiao Bonded Zone.
