Taiwan IT Investors Enthusiastic in Setting up R&D Centers in China's MainlandAlong with the "production center" heading for China's western regions, Taiwan IT enterprises have been active in shifting their Research and Development Centers to the mainland, making such cities as Shanghai, Xi'an, Suzhou and Guangzhou their major R&D bases.A survey by "Ministry of Economic Affairs" of Taiwan showed that last year saw about 40 percent IT investors set up R&D centers in the mainland, and this is still going on. This tells Taiwan's serious shortage of hi-tech talents, expert says. And it's natural for them to go to the mainland where there are plenty of hi-tech professionals. As reported, over 10 IC designers from Taiwan have established their R&D centers in the Shanghai Caohejing New Technology Development Zone, while more than 20 Taiwan enterprises for software have settled down in Shangdi hi-tech park of Zhongguancun Science Park in Beijing.
