Arroyo Orders Intensive Search for US Serviceman
Philippine
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ordered Wednesday both the military and police to conduct an intensified operation to find the missing US serviceman Scott Washburn.
Arroyo issued the order following reports the leftist rebel group -- the New People's Army allegedly abducted Washburn who was among the participants of the joint military exercises which is being held at Clark in the northern province of Pampanga.
Washburn was reportedly abducted Tuesday afternoon when he and four other U.S. navy servicemen were blocked and disarmed on the slope of Mount Pinatubo.
Mount Pinatubo became a scenic spot after the active volcano erupted in 1991, killing at least 200 people.
