Int'l Arts Carnival Features Over 200 Programs in HK

An international arts carnival is expected to stage more than 200 performances and extension activities this summer in Hong Kong to entertain Kong children, youngsters and their families.

Organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the annual festival will be held between July 13 and August 26. It is one of the "City of Life: Hong Kong is it!" programs.

Speaking at the press conference Wednesday, the department's chief manager for performing companies and festivals Jeff Ying said that there will be 18 performing groups from China, Japan, South Korea, France, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.

Ying said that they will bring us a total of 80 shows that span from martial arts, acrobatics, dance and puppetry to drama, musicals, clowning and music performances in three main series: " Kungfu and Acrobatic Wonders," "Secret Mythical Corner" and "Big People and Me."

Apart from the performances, the department has also organized workshops, school-touring program, children's fun week, exhibitions, summer carnivals, cultural tours and joint programs with libraries and museums.
