Chinese Dancers Carried off the Cup in Helsinki Int'l Ballet Competition

It is reported that Chinese competitors have scored a great success in the Helsinki International Ballet Competition, which was closed at the Finnish National Opera on June 4.

Participated in the Competition started on May 26 were 72 competitors from 25 countries. After six-day preliminaries and quarterfinals, altogether 26 dancers were qualified for the finals, including five Chinese competitors.

In the finals, China won altogether four medals, accounting for one-third of all medals set for this competition, making China the first in terms of the awarded competitors of all participating countries. Of the four awarded Chinese competitors they are all from Shanghai Teachers University. Yao Wei won the gold of women's senior division (age 19-25), Fang Zhongjing gold of women's junior division (age 15-18), Huang Zhen the third in men's junior division, and Wang Ge also the third of men's senior division respectively.
