Blatter Sponsors Opening Ceremony of Building Football Ground in Cambodia
Sepp Blatter, President of Federation International Football Association (FIFA), sponsored a symbolic opening ceremony of construction of a football ground on Tuesday, which is funded by FIFA.
Khek Ravy, President of Football Association of Cambodia (FAC), told Xinhua that FIFA will provide FAC with 400,000 U.S. dollars for construction of a football ground at international level in the country which will be located in the suburbs of Phnom Penh, about 10 kilometers west of Phnom Penh and occupy 3.3 hectare of land.
FIFA president said at the opening ceremony that this non- governmental organizations and international community-funded football ground belongs to the Cambodian youths, instead of the Cambodian government.
He stressed that the Cambodian younger generation should attach great importance to the development of football game, and the Cambodian football team should go to the world for competition.
Blatter arrived in Cambodia on Tuesday, and Cambodia is the first-leg of his Southeast Asian trip. He will pay visits to Vietnam, Thailand, Laos after concluding his 2-day visit to Cambodia.
