Hangzhou Universities Get in a Zone

A zone specially designed for universities and colleges is under construction in this capital of east China's Zhejiang Province.

The Xiasha University Park, covering more than 10 sq km and the biggest in the province, is designed to accommodate 15 schools of higher learning and 120,000 students on campus.

The 7.7-billion-yuan (US$927 million) project is expected to be completed within the next five years.

Construction of the first phase of the university park, covering four sq km, is in full swing, and the second phase of the project, which will cover more than six sq km, will start next year, according to sources.

The university park is located inside the Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone.
