US jet fighters on Tuesday carried out fresh attacks at Iraqi military targets, the US military said.
"Operation Southern Watch coalition aircraft used precision- guided weapons today to strike an anti-aircraft artillery site in Southern Iraq," the Florida-based US Central Command said in a statement.
But a spokesman for US Central Command said that only US planes, including US Air Force F-15 Eagles and US Marine FA-18 Hornets, were involved in the attack, the first in more than two weeks. All the aircraft returned to their bases safely, he added.
The US Central Command oversees military operations in the Gulf region.
