Three Bombs Explode in Ugandan Capital, Injuring at Least 10Three bombs exploded Monday in several areas of the Ugandan capital Kampala, injuring at least 10 people, a senior police official said."So far, 4 people have been rushed to Mulajo hospital" in central Kampala, regional police commander Ahmed Wafuba said, adding that others had been hospitalised in other parts of the city. Two of the bombs had been placed in group taxis in the central neighborhood of Mujanjo and in Neteke, on the outskirts of the city, he said. A third bomb exploded at one of the main minibus stations in the city centre. "The effort in combatting this has never ceased. But we were also not expecting it," the commander said. Between 1997 and 1999, dozens of people were killed in a spate of bomb and hand-grenade explosions in Kampala. Responsibility for those attacks was later claimed by a rebel group called the National Army for the Liberation of Uganda. In late January, bomb blasts in the city wounded six people. |
