S.Korea, Mexico Seeking Enhanced Bilateral Ties

South Korea and Mexico Monday pledged to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperate for promotion of peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The pledge was made at a meeting between South Korean President Kim Dae-jung and visiting Mexican President Vicente Fox here.

At the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and promote peace on the Korean Peninsula, said a press release of South Korean Presidential Office.

In a nine-point statement after the meeting, the two sides said they will rapidly increase mutual trade and investment, agreeing to cooperate in oil refining, shipbuilding, information technology and the small business sector.

The Mexican president, who arrived here Sunday for a three-day visit, is scheduled to meet other South Korean political and business leaders and a series of agreements to promote cooperation in culture, science, technology and aviation are expected to be signed.
