State Council Officials Lectured on Information Security

Premier Zhu Rongji and Vice-Premier Li Lanqing were among a group of senior officials attending a lecture on information security given by He Dequan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Monday.

In his lecture, the academician explained the present situation of China's information networks and the ways to protect computer information. He is an expert on the security of computer information and scientific administration.

After the lecture, the premier made a speech saying that the government will increase its support for the development of the country's information industry. Meanwhile, the government departments concerned will study and work out policies on information security and boost the development of technology for information security, he noted.

The lecture was organized by the National Leading Group on Science, Technology and Education. Also attending were two vice- premiers and four state councilors, along with leading officials from different departments of the State Council.
