US President Extends Condolences to Nepal's Royal Family
US President George W. Bush on Saturday, June 2 said he was shocked at the murders of Nepal's king and queen and extended condolences to the royal family over the tragedy.
"I am deeply saddened and shocked at King Birendra's untimely death," Bush said in a statement.
"I also mourn the loss of Queen Aishwarya and other family members and extend my deepest sympathies to the King's extended family," he added.
The Nepalese king and queen and several other family members were shot to death by Crown Prince Dipendra during a family dinner at the royal palace on Friday evening, reportedly over differences on the 30-year-old heir's choice of a bride. The prince then shot himself and was reported to be on life support.
