Beijing Leaders Visit Show on "Strike Hard" Achievements

City leaders of this national capital viewed an exhibition of the achievements of the current "Strike Hard" anti-crime campaign Wednesday. The show is sponsored by the municipal public security bureau.

During their visit, Jia Qinglin, secretary of the municipal committee of the Communist Party of China, and Mayor Liu Qi, showed satisfaction with the results of the city's "Strike Hard" drive.

So far, local police have uncovered 856 serious criminal cases including a number of criminal groups. In the campaign, the police have closed down 447 places that were engaged in prostitution and confiscated 561 guns and 1,684 knives of various types.

The police also uncovered 797 tax-evasions, frauds and money- forging cases, recovering bad money totaling 42.17 million yuan.
