Ethiopian Justice Minister Sentenced for Refusal to Aid JusticeEthiopian Justice Minister Ato Worede Wolde Welde has been sentenced to one month imprisonment for refusal to aid justice, the local media reported Wednesday.The minister, according to the decision rendered by the court, failed to appear without lawful excuse having lawfully summoned to appear in the judicial proceedings to explain a case. According to the court, he was summoned to appear before the bench on May 25 and produce the detainee, Ato Tamerat Tarekegn, who was the polite-bureau member of the Ethiopian Democratic Party and arrested by police in the wake of the April riot in the capital. But the minister failed to appear on May 25 and the court ordered police to arrest him on Tuesday. The court which had rejected the explanations of the minister as not lawful excuses passed a sentence of one month.
