Seventh China-ASEAN Senior Officials Consultations to Be Held

The Seventh China-ASEAN Senior Officials Consultations will be held in Bo'ao of Hainan Province, south China, announced Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao Tuesday.

A Chinese delegation headed by Vice-Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend the meeting. Deputy foreign ministers of the ten ASEAN countries and the secretary general of ASEAN will also be present, according to Zhu.

He noted that the meeting will review and evaluate the recent progress of China-ASEAN relations, conduct in-depth exchanges of views on current international and regional situation.

The discussions will focus on how to further explore and deepen mutually beneficial relations between the two sides in the new century, Zhu added.

The consultations constitutes one of the important channels for dialogue and cooperation between China and the ASEAN, and plays a positive role in establishing and developing the good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust and deepening cooperation between the two sides in various fields, he said.

Zhu also expressed the hope that the meeting will make good preparations for the upcoming China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the China-ASEAN Summit that is to be held at the end of the year.
