China, US Agree in Principle on EP-3's Return

China and the United States have reached an agreement in principle recently on the return of the US EP-3 reconnaissance plane, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao at a regular press conference Tuesday.

China has agreed in principle that the United States sends a chartered commercial An-124 cargo plane to China's Hainan Province to carry back the disassembled EP-3 plane, the spokesman said. But the two sides need further discussions on relevant technical details, he added.

The agreement was concluded after several rounds of consultations between Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhu Wenzhong and an official at the US embassy in China, he said.
