Japan to Recall 1236 Space Wagon Exported to China

Japan will recall 1236 Space Wagon N84 exported to China for checking and repair, according to a letter sent lately by Mitsubishi to the State Administration of Quality Supervision and Quarantine (SAQSQ).

Chinese consumers use the said model should contact from May 28 Mitsubishi regional agencies as soon as possible to get relevant parts repaired free of charge, the letter says.

Space Wagon N84, as is reported, was manufactured between January 1997 and December 2000. The fault this time lies on the upper plate of the fuel tank, which is not strong enough and would become deformed when the inner pressure of the tank changes. If the state continues cracks will appear and the tack, when full, would probably leak petrol.

Mitsubishi says this is a prevention action and no accident has been reported in Chinese market up to now.

Since last February, Mitsubishi has called back its faulty Pajero V 31, V 33, Galant, and Eclipse.
