Hong Kong police seized 135,000 pirated optical discs in a two-day anti-piracy operation, a spokesman for the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region said Monday.
The discs, worth about HK$2.1 million (US$269,000), were found on a river trade vessel departing for the Chinese mainland Friday, said the spokesman.
Follow-up search of two licensed CD factories in Yuen Long and Kwun Tong on Saturday resulted in the seizure of some pirated discs production equipment and impounding of three production lines, valued at HK$4.5 million (US$577,000), as well as the arrest of three operators of the factories.
