Consumer Credit Loan Grows in China: Survey

To learn more about people's preference to consumer credit loan, China Economic Forecasting and Monitoring Center under National Bureau of Statistics recently conducted its third survey on people's use of consumer credit loan and announced the result May 28.

According to the survey conducted in Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Xi'an with 2,100 residents involved, people's knowledge to consumer credit loan has been raised to a new level. Of the six ordinary types of consumer credit loans, 8.3 percent of the surveyed gave correct answers, higher than 5.8 percent and 5.3 percent of last year. The proportion as what consumer credit loan is decreased by 5.7 percent from 8.2 percent. The survey indicates that men are better than women in learning use of consumer credit loan, and people holding high education degrees are better than those with a low education degree, consumers at the age of 24-35 are more inclined to use credit loans.

The survey also shows that respondents in Beijing more favor housing loans and daily necessaries consumption, most of them usually rely on credit card or borrow money from friends or relatives in terms of fund source. In the past 6 months, credit consumption by Beijing respondents were at the range of 5,001-50,000 yuan or more than 80,000, 26.5 percent of consumers ever used a credit loan of over 100,000 yuan. However, the proportion is still ranked bottom low among the 7 cities surveyed at 11.3 percent.
