Police Seizes 70 Smuggled Cars in East China

Anti-smuggling police in east China's Zhejiang Province have seized 70 smuggled cars during a recent night raid.

The cars are being unloaded from a cargo vessel "Quanzhou No.2", at a wharf in the Leqing county at 11:20 p.m. on May 20, when the police arrived at the site.

Twenty non-standard containers, all having their back doors sealed, were found on board or some had already loaded on the 20 trucks waiting at the wharf.

When one of the containers was cut open the next day, police discovered four Nissan cars inside. All the cars have their doors, tyres and seats dismantled but properly marked for reassembling.

Police said the cars were to be smuggled to Guangzhou.

The case is still under further investigation.
