Beijing University Establishes School of Journalism and Communication
Beijing University, China's prestigious university which initiated the country's earliest journalism education over 90 years ago, set up the School of Journalism and Communication Monday.
As a new school of the leading university in China, it aims at supplying the society with professional journalists and communication scholars who are familiar with government policies and regulations, who have a solid command of theory and practical skills in the field.
Beijing University President Xu Zhihong said at the opening ceremony that Beijing University, with its 100 years' history, boasts a tradition of academic democracy which helps draw to the school an outstanding faculty and best students in the nation.
The school is structured that it strives to lead the 21st century in China's communication education. Along with the traditional areas such as Journalism, Communication, TV and Broadcasting and Advertisement, it provides courses and programs much needed in the Information Age, such as new media and Internet, communication management and international communication.
