New Hall of Capital Library Opens to Public

The new hall of the Capital Library was formally open to the public Friday after a trial operation since May 1.

The library, with 11 reading rooms and more than 1,000 seats, is also equipped with advanced facilities to provide easy access for readers. Some one million books are now available in line with its formal opening.

The Capital Library, with a history of 88 years, has a total reserve of 2.7 million books, including rare editions of ancient books, documents of different locations and books in foreign languages.

Jia Qinglin, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Minister of Culture Sun Jiazheng, and Beijing Mayor Liu Qi attended today's opening ceremony for the library hall.
