Li Chengwei of China Takes Last Diving Gold at East Asian Games

Li Chengwei of China committed a major error but still won the men's 10-meter platform title, the last East Asian Games diving gold, on Friday.

Li Chengwei, who has an injury to his shoulder, totaled 617.31 points for the gold medal, the fifth one for the Chinese diving team at the games.

Li got a poor 46.371 points from his ninth dive, an armstand dive with a difficult degree of 3.5 points. But he then collected 91.80 points, the highest score of the final with a backward 3 and a half somersaults at pike position which has the highest possible difficulty degree of 3.6.

Li's teammate Cui Xiaofeng finished second at 582.87 points, followed by Kichiro Miyamoto of Japan in the third place at 538.77.

China got five gold medals out of six in the diving tournament while Japan had one to its credit.
