China's First Online General Examination Held in Guangdong
May 24 saw China's first online general examination (an examination for the graduating students of all schools in a locality) for junior middle schools held in Zhanjiang City of Guangdong Province.
The biology examination bears the same content, question patterns and time-limit for traditional exams. The difference is that students must go to computer rooms, ask for paper sheets and answer questions all on the computer. When finished they've only to click the button of "submit" and results will be displayed on the screen within one second. If time-limit is over the system will automatically take away the paper with marks given.
A website has been opened and students can log on and apply for the exam at any time and place. But questions in each sheet are not arranged in the same order so as to avoid cheating and ensure an open and fair exam. It is a reform on traditional teaching and exam modes, indicating a new orientation for Chinese education.
