Chinese Swimmers One-two in Women's 100m Breaststroke at Asiad

Luo Xuejuan of China beat her teammate and 200 meters breaststroke swimming world record holder Qi Hui to win the women's 100m breaststroke title at the East Asian Games Thursday.

Luo Xuejuan clocked a winning time of one minute 7.42 seconds, 0.90 seconds behind the world record of 1:06.52 held by Penelope Heyns of South Africa.

Qi Hui, who won her specialty earlier in the Games, finished second in 1:08.48 and Japanese Junko Isoda was third in 1:09.87.

In the men's 200m breaststroke final earlier on Thursday, Japanese swimmers Kosuke Kitajima and Okita Yoshiaki took the top two places.

Kitajima clocked 2:13.20 while Yoshiaki Okita was timed at 2:17. 45. The bronze medal went to Cheng Hao of China who clocked 2:18. 67.
