ASEM Asian FMs' Meeting Held in Beijing

Foreign ministers from 10 ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Asian member states held a meeting Thursday afternoon.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan chaired the meeting and introduced the agenda, topics for discussion and activity arrangements for the Third ASEM Foreign Ministers' Meeting (FMM).

The 10 foreign ministers spoke highly of the current Asia- Europe cooperation process and agreed that it is right to take " strengthening Asia-Europe partnership in the new century" as the FMM's theme.

The foreign ministers said that to strengthen cooperation and exchanges and enhance understanding and friendship among ASEM members is of great significance for the promotion of a continuous development of Asia-Europe equal partnership when the world situation is relaxing in general and economic globalization is evolving.

They said they will work with their European members to secure the success of the FMM.
