Ancient Tombs discovered in Shandong

A pottery funerary object "a pigsty and a toilet", is unearthed from a clan graveyard of the Han Dynasty(206 B.C.-220 A.D.) covering an area of 19 hectares, in the suburbs of Linyi City in east China's Shandong Province May 22, 2001. Archaeologists have excavated 150 tombs among more than 500, discovering over 500 pieces of precious relics made in gold, bronze, iron and pottery.

US Returns Seized Ancient Sculpture to China

A rare marble wall panel stolen from an ancient tomb in Northern China and offered for sale in New York was returned to China by US Customs Service Wednesday, with officials from the United States and China hailing it a result of fruitful cooperation.

Flag-Raising Ceremony Held in Lhasa

China's national flag is being raised at the square in front of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, capital city of China's Tibet Autonomous Region, during a flag-raising ceremony Wednesday morning May 23, 2001. More than 5,000 Tibetans from all walks of life gathered at the square for the ceremony which was held as part of the activity celebrating the 50th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet.
