Chinese Olympic Judo Champion Wins East Asian Games Title

China's Olympic champion Yuan Hua grabbed the gold medal of the women's over 78-kg category judo event in the sport's first day competition at the 3rd East Asian Games Thursday.

Yuan, who defeated Japanese Midori Shintani to qualify for the semifinals, defeated Lee Hsiao-hung from Chinese Taipei for the gold medal.

Ao Tegen, another Chinese, lost to Jang Sung Hu of South Korea for the silver medal in 100-kg category.

China's Yin Yufeng won a bronze medal for women's 78-kg category.

The gold medal in men's over 100kg category went to Japan's Tatsuhiro Muramoto who defeated South Korea's Kang Byung.

South Korea's Lee So Yeon took the women's under 78-kg category title after a "yusei" victory over Japan's Mizuho Matsuzaki.
