China Opposes Political Interference in Olympic Bid

China is opposed to some people meddling in China's Olympic bid in the name of politics, and this will not overshadow Beijing's efforts, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao at a press conference Thursday.

"Their behavior runs counter to the spirit of the Olympic Games," noted Zhu.

He pointed out that the evaluation report made by the International Olympic Committee recently is fair and objective and that Beijing will continue to demonstrate its ability to host the 2008 Olympic Games.

"If Beijing gets the opportunity to host the 2008 games, it will strive to make the games a very successful one.
