Chinese Dominate Walk Races at East Asian Games
Chinese dominated the men's and women's 20km walk races at the 3rd East Asian Games on Thursday.
Liu Hongyu outlasted Maiya Sozonova of
Kazakhstan
in the last 5 kilometers to take the title in a time of one hour 32 minutes and 6 seconds.
Sozonova took the silver at 1:32:31, followed by another Chinese Wang Yan in the third place at 1:35:36.
The men's 20km walk race was also won by China.
Li Zewen also met a challenge in the race and he pulled away in the last kilometers to beat Satoshi Yanagisawa of
Japan
for a winning time of 1:24:10.
Yanagisawa finished second at 1:24:26 and the bronze medal went to Sergey Korepanov of Kazakhstan at 1:24:41.
